People of God, when we look around us and listen to the news these days, everything looks gloomy and discouraging. When we think about the challenges we are going through and it seems as if God is mute to our prayers, we then wonder whether it is possible to pull through the challenge or the difficult situation.
Let us look at Genesis 18 – The story of Abraham, when he entertained 3 guests (Angels) and despite the fact that Sarah and Abraham are very old. One of the men prophesy that Sarah will have a child (son) by the same time the next year. In verse 12, Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, after I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure? I believe Sarah, laughed because she believed her situation is hopeless.
However, the Lord said to Abraham in verse 13, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ 14: Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
Despite Sarah’s situation looking bleak scientifically, the Lord turned her dead situation or should I say her impossible situation to testimony.
I experienced a turbulent situation in my life in 2014 and the world around me seemed to be crumbling right in my face, and at a point a friend told me that the situation is hopeless as he has never seen anyone fight with a Regulatory authority and win. But in that hopeless situation, I held on to the word of God according to Luke 1:37 – ‘For with God nothing shall be impossible’. I want to encourage you that no matter the situation you are going through right now or what the economic situation around you is saying, hold on to the word of God and with prayer, fasting (if you are up to it) and not forsaking the assembly of the saints, that situation that seemed impossible will become possible with God’s intervention.
To the glory of God, the situation that I battled with then for about eight months, which looked impossible to man, was made possible with God. And my life today serves as a testimony to friends and family. I don’t know what you are going through as a reader of this column, is it your marriage, your immigration paper, job, fruit of the womb? I am here to give you good news as a product of grace and mercy that we serve a living God, and we are assured by His word, for example: in Jeremiah 32:27 “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?
If you believe and you hold on to your faith and His word like the lady with the issue of blood, you will also testify to the goodness of the Lord. Those that have mocked you will celebrate with you and glorify your God in Heaven.
